Aerospace Industry: A Case Study A major aerospace concern wanted to make their operation more efficient. With over 900 acres and 240 buildings, craftsmen must travel back and forth to the office to gather work orders, equipment history, and check for available replacement parts. Hundreds of man hours are used to travel back and forth to the office, reducing worker efficiency, and increasing work order backlogs. When returning to the office the often passed locations needed an inspection along the way, forcing the worker to backtrack. The paper-based system also was problematic on windy tarmacs and during inclement weather. DataSplice allowed the company to utilize their MAXIMO® installation more efficiently, by helping them design a mobile handheld screen for users to research maintenance history, parts used, needed follow-up work, and/or comments for each inspection. The customizable nature of DataSplice allowed administrators to configure a single screen to provide the functionality of several Maximo screens.
